“If you are lonely when you’re alone, you are in bad company.”
– Jean-Paul Sartre

Let me put you on to something I never thought I’d recommend: doing stuff alone. No, seriously. As someone who used to have terrible social anxiety, I get it—it sounds terrifying. But now? I’m obsessed.

Coffee shops, museums, parks, random bookstores—I go by myself, and I love it. I’ve started treating solo time like a date with myself. I bring a book. I people-watch. There’s literally no pressure, no one waiting on me, no weird group decision-making.

I used to think being alone meant being lonely. Now I realize they’re not the same thing at all. Independence is a flex. I broke out of this weird guilt spiral where I thought I always needed to be with people to feel validated. Honestly I’d definitely say I’m great company.

Why not romanticize your solo time? You deserve to feel comfortable in your own presence.
