“… It’s a recession when your neighbor loses his job; it’s a depression when you lose yours…” –

– Harry S Truman

Anyone else really struggling to find a paying job these past few months? I have been applying to jobs and internships all spring and have yet to find an hourly paying job that will take me. As a college student living in New York, a part-time job is pretty much a necessity right now. But with only two years of school left, my ideal situation would be a job related to the career I want to have and that pays at least an hourly minimum wage. I thought this would be a simple task given that I haven’t had issues finding a job in the past, but 2025 has been a rough year. I’ve heard similar things about recent graduates struggling to find jobs after college, and so I’m worried about what the job search will look like in 2 years. It feels like the job search has become a never-ending cycle of rejections and missed opportunities, despite our best efforts and qualifications. And it’s disheartening to witness the job market shift in a way that leaves people in a state of uncertainty and worry.
