I AM WORKING NIGHT SHIFT !!
I’d never thought I’d say it, but being forced to work East Coast hours on the West Coast was amazing. Sure, I had to wake up at 6am each morning, but by 3pm I was having a virtual happy hour with my team. Now that I am back on the East, I constantly think about the insanity of working during daylight. Who came up with the idea of being cooped up inside during the best hours of the day when it’s light out and warm? Soon it will be dark by 5pm, brutally cold and you won’t even want to go out even if there was somewhere to go. Back when we had commutes and children to drop off at school, I can understand the need for working during the day, but why feign this sense of normalcy when nothing is normal and most of us are still working from home? Why can’t we throw standard work hours out the window and work those eight hours whenever we are most productive? For me, it’s when the sun sets, and the urgency of deadlines truly kicks.
